How to Survive a Book Hangover

We've all been there. You finish a great book or a great series that made you feel *~*~*ALL THE FEELS*~*~* and now you can't stop thinking about it. You sob when you remember how your favorite characters met their sticky ends. You re-live your favorite scenes over and over in your head. Your mind is now stuck in the world of the book.

You, my friend, are experiencing a book hangover.

So what's to be done? You have to get back to your normal life somehow, but how can you when the series you raged and cried and fangirled over is finished? Or worse -- the series isn't finished, but the next book won't come out for, like, YEARS? (Looking at you, Every Day sequel)

Fear not, bookworms. Here are some simple tips to help you get back to reality:

1. Read reviews of the book online

Seeing people write about the book from a real-world perspective can sometimes help you remember that, as real as it felt, it's only fiction. Also, reading negative reviews might shore up some plot holes that you didn't question the first time around, further shattering the illusion.

2. Talk to other people about it

Having a conversation with other people who read the same book is a great way to pour out the excess *~*FEELS*~*. And you'll be helping them deal with their feels, too!

3. Exercise

There's nothing like mindless physical activity to clear your brain. And if you listen to music or an audiobook while you work out, then so much the better!

4. Go out and do something with your friends

It's all very well and good to get out of the house, but it's even better to do it with someone else. That way, you'll be forced to experience human interaction -- a great way to reconnect with the world.

"SOCIAL INTERACTION?!" I hear you gasp. Well, if that's not for you, then perhaps you'd rather ...

5. Read another great book

Obviously, the easiest way to get your head out of one book is to get stuck in another one. I would recommend switching the genres up -- if the cause of your book hangover was a fantasy novel, try picking up a contemporary. If the culprit was a romance novel, try a sci-fi.

Really, though, who would ever want to leave worlds like this?
