The Fate of The Dreamon

So, this post is Part Two of "Ellie admits all the things she forgot to blog about." (You can read Part One here).

A few weeks ago, I completely finished The Dreamon. And I mean completely. I mean, all the plot holes are filled in, everything is resolved, and I'm pretty sure there are no typos. Awkwardly, I had to add a major subplot at the last minute, but it meshed with the existing story surprisingly well.

(And for those of you who've been following my word count woes, the final version put on weight once again -- 60,000 words is my current total. Still a bit short, but I'm not complaining.)

So what am I going to do with this shiny new manuscript?

If you'd asked me a couple of years ago, I'd have said, "Duh! Self-publish it, of course." But I've done some research, and I decided to try something else.

So I've dived into ...

THE QUERY TRENCHES!

*Cue ominous music and the screams of tortured writers*

Yep. I'm querying literary agents. I've researched extensively, written what I think is a decent query letter, and already received my first few rejections. I even entered a query contest, Sun vs Snow, and connected with some amazing writers in the process.

There will probably be a lot of query-related blog posts in the months to come.

I still have one more big thing to confess about my writing, but that will have to wait until next time. Until then!

The writing journey goes on and on ...

  1. Hey, have you heard of or read a book called 'Go Teen Writers'? I recently got it, and though I haven't read much of it yet, it looks to be a huge wealth of information about editing a book, as well as publishing and all that goes with that process - agents/query letters/etc... It might be worth checking it out to see if it could be helpful in your process of publishing 'The Dreamon'... Excited for you and your book as you go on this journey!
