An Interview with Author Betricia Santiago-Blue!

Today, I'll be interviewing children's picture book author Betricia Santiago-Blue! Betricia lives in Florida, and her first ever book was just published last month. You can connect with Betricia on Goodreads and Instagram.

First, tell us a bit about yourself.

My name is Betricia Santiago-Blue. Before I began writing I worked as Correctional Officer in Miami for years and I am currently a stay-at-home mom.


What books have you written, and what genre are they?

A children's book "Jada Sundae And The Gumdrop Fairies Rescue".


Tell us more about your book!

The book is about Jada Sundae. She is the Princess of the Kingdom of Sweets and is best friends with a Gumdrop Fairy named Bella Blue. One day the evil fairy Licorice Blacks captures all the Gumdrop Fairies and its up to Jada and Bella to save them!

What ages are your books for?

3-9 years

Where do you get your inspiration from?

My oldest daughter is my inspiration for the book. She has a big imagination and an even bigger sweet tooth, so I created the Kingdom of Sweets for her.


How did you come up with your characters?

The characters are based off of candies, sweets, etc.

When did you first start writing?

When I was 12


Where do you like to write?

In my bath tub


What are some of your favorite books?

The Harry Potter Series and The House of Night Series

Do you have any advice for up-and-coming authors?

Believe in yourself and your craft!
